I hope you enjoy this post on what goes into my liver function herbal tea! This is not medical advice, nor should it replace medical advice. This post contains affiliate links.
Chances are you made your way to this page because you saw my Tiktok on my dad’s battle with liver disease. If you didn’t see my Tiktok, I basically shared my dad’s story of using herbs as medicine to put his liver disease in remission.
I wanted to share his protocol here because I’ve now received thousands of comments, DMS, and emails requesting it. I also want to say how glad I am that so many people watched my video and are now learning about the power of herbs.

So what was my dad’s liver disease protocol?
First, I want to clarify that my dad went the traditional Western medicine route. It didn’t work for him, and he felt cornered. He dug into research (where I get it from) and quickly started testing out different mushrooms, herbs, supplements, etc.
I also want to clarify, that these are not the only things my dad did to improve his liver function, he had a strict regimen that I can share further on Tiktok. He started by taking liposomal vitamin c, along with coral legend for maximum absorption of the vitamin C.
He also did a program through Dr. Lloyd called “Program Level 1,” that I will link here. It included Lipoic Acid, Selenium Aller-aid, dandelion root, and thymus organic glandular. According to my dad, the aloe vera was key too.
He also took the Lactoferrin from Dr. Lloyd as well. Again, want to emphasize this was his regime and he found one that worked for him. When it comes to herbal medicine we know what herbs work well, and what each does, but they can work differently for different people.
This is also not medical advice, just sharing his experience in hopes that you can find healing as well.
Liver Function Herbal Tea Ingredients
There are many different herbs that can help support liver function and overall help increase the liver’s ability to properly detox – which happens to be its number one function. Unfortunately, different variables come into play and can severely harm the liver from detoxing properly.
These six herbs are just some of the herbs you can use to support liver function, but these are some of the most potent ones in my opinion. Anyways, this liver function herbal tea will also be available on Drink Symbi in the next month or so, I just wanted to share the ingredients for all of you!
Milk Thistle
Milk thistle is my favorite weed. It’s a member of the Asteraceae family of plants, which sunflowers and daisies also belong to! While relatively new in the Western side of the world, this herb has been used for thousands of years to treat both gallbladder and liver problems. It helps our livers detox properly, increases bile production, and increases digestive function as well.
Milk thistle has very strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that have made it famous. It helps the liver, which is key considering how many functions the liver impacts, including digestion, the metabolic system, the immune system, as well as how you nutrients are stored.
Recently, a study in the journal Molecular Carcinogenesis demonstrated that milk thistle can even help the body detox from the effects of radiation. Studies also show that silymarin, one of the main components of milk thistle seeds, can work to ease inflammation as well as promote bodily cell repair. There needs to be research done, but this may be able to help ease symptoms from various liver diseases. These diseases can include things like fatty liver disease, jaundice, cirrhosis, and more.
This is a great milk thistle powder.

Dandelion Root
Dandelions are a family of flowering plants that can be seen growing all over the world. And quite possibly in your front yard. It’s kind of funny that it’s a weed many of us despise in the garden, but at the same time, it is a powerful diuretic and tonic.
When it comes to the diuretic properties it can work to stimulate the stomach, liver, and gallbladder, as well as increase your appetite. It is also a stimulant to the immune system, which is beneficial for general function. Lastly, dandelion root can be used to treat kidney and liver disorders. Not only this, but it makes up 112% of your daily intake of vitamin A and 535% of vitamin K.
Here is a great option of dandelion root that you can get straight from Amazon.

Licorice Root
Licorice root is a plant that mostly grows in Asia, Turkey and Greece. It is a popular root in treating liver disease as it has been shown to both repair and improve liver enzymes. It also stops the damage from occurring in the first place as well.
According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, “Science has found that licorice root actually stops the damage from occurring in the first place. A group of researchers concluded in one of their studies that, “These results suggest that consumption of the proprietary glycyrrhizin study product [licorice extract] during alcohol consumption may support improved liver health compared with drinking alcohol alone.”
I buy my herbs in massive bulk orders, but this is a great place to buy licorice root from!

Hyssop
Hyssop is a powerful plant that has been used for its antiseptic properties for ages. And of course, I have to mention this, it’s mentioned all the way back in the Bible in Psalm 51:7, “Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean.”
I find it so cool how we are still utilizing the same herbs that people were thousands of years ago. Anyways, hyssop has a variety of benefits. It can be used as an aid to digestive and intestinal problems/pain, as well as boosting appetite. It also helps with a variety of including liver and gallbladder conditions.
Here is a Hyssop option from Amazon.

Cats Claw
Cats Claw is commonly referred to as the “Miracle Herb from the Rain Forest of Peru,” and for good reason. Research on this herb began in the 1970s and showed promising results from the beginning. Not only has this herb yielded positive results for those with liver issues, but pretty much every inflammatory disease as well. I take this herb in particular for my lupus.
It has also shown promising results with arthritis, allergies, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, lupus, herpes, organic depression, menstrual irregularities, and more. This is a staple in liver function herbal tea.

Red Reishi Mushroom
Last but not least, one of my favorite mushrooms. The reishi mushroom is a fungus that has a variety of immune-boosting properties. When it comes to the liver, in particular, an extract of red reishi has been shown to not only improve blood biochemical parameters re: liver damage but also limit beta-glucuronidase.
Beta-glucuronidase is an enzyme that is commonly elevated in those that have liver problems, whether it be inflammation, cirrhosis, or jaundice.
I purchase Reishi mushroom here.

Need to mention…
I want to emphasize that while herbs are SO powerful and underutilized in Western medicine, I am not discounting Western medicine. While I know that herbs can heal, I also know that medication is needed sometimes. I also appreciate the power of science and medicine, I just know that the whole field is too political and money-driven.
Unfortunately, this can lead to decisions being made about medicine without considering the patient, but just the financial outcome. Anyways, just wanted to put that out there, so you don’t think I’m anti-science. Which, by the way, herbal medicine, is science-based.
