Today I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite drink recipes: hormone balancing hot chocolate.
This drink is yummy, chocolate-y, and perfect for the holiday season. Made with ingredients to help balance your hormones, not harm them, it’s the perfect daily treat.
If you’ve been around here for a while, then you know one of the most common hormone disrupters is sugar. Unfortunately, many women are sensitive to sugar without even really knowing it. While I’m not anti-sugar by any means, there is a long term impact on the brain and gut that has been studied.
I do enjoy a doughnut every once in a while, but as someone who has a few different different autoimmune diseases, and a sensitive gut, I tend to reach for other choices. Like this delicious hot chocolate.
Now you might be asking, how can a hot chocolate balance hormones? And truth is, most won’t. Most are packed full of sugars, while this one is more of a savory sweet. Instead of using traditional sugar, I grab 100% natural maple syrup. And instead of using cocoa powder, I grab cacao. Let’s dive into those ingredients below.
Hormone Supporting Ingredients
I know there are a lot of recipes on the internet that are labeled as “hormone-boosting” or a “superfood” when in reality there’s not much truth to it. I try to steer clear of adding these labels unless I truly believe they are beneficial in that way. That said, this drink does deserve the label hormone balancing hot chocolate.
It’s not only delicious, and perfect for this time of year, but it is packed with ingredients that aid in helping balance out hormonal imbalances.
MCT Oil / Coconut Butter – If you’re not adding MCT Oil or Coconut butter to your coffee, you’re missing out on its creamy addition to your cup. The Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) help transform cholesterol into pregnenolone, which is a key building block of thyroid and sex-hormone creation too.
Ashwagandha – My personal favorite adaptogen, and the most widely used, ashwagandha is a great addition to any drink. It works wonders as it strengthens the immune system while strengthening all forms of stamina. It is a hormonal balancer that is good for both males and females.
Maca – This root helps to naturally balance out hormone levels, boost energy, and can even assist in a healthy libido level.
Anyways, enough about the ingredients, let’s get to the recipe itself.

Thanks so much for this! Winter is a time when we all need a bit of help balancing our hormones. The only one of these I’m familiar with is Maca, so I’m thrilled to learn more.

This is such a great idea. I have tried MCT oil (used to put it in my coffee to help me while intermitten fasting) but I have never heard of Ashwagandha! It seems to have some great benefits and I am going to look into it more.
